Bristol Mental Health Employment Service
We've said it before, and we'll say it again:
MENTAL HEALTH is just as - if not more - important than physical health.
As such, we proudly continue to bring awareness to Bristol-based mental health charities and overall mental wellbeing. This week on the blog, we want to put the Bristol Mental Health Employment Service in the spotlight.
WHAT IS THE BRISTOL MENTAL HEALTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICE?
If you're struggling with a mental illness and need support to find or stay in work, the Bristol Mental Health Employment Service can help! They have several Employment Advisors available Monday through Friday from 9am until 5pm, and even provide out of hours work by arrangement. Qualified advisors meet people within their local communities, such as at cafes, libraries, community centres, and even GP surgeries. These advisors also work very closely with other Bristol Mental Health services, as well as mainstream employment services to ensure the right level of support for individuals who need it.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR HELP FROM BMHES?
The Bristol Mental Health Employment Service can help anyone who:
- has a mental health support need or condition
- is over the age of 18
- wants to find or stay in employment
- lives within the Bristol city boundary, or has a GP in Bristol
If you’ve been off work due to mental health struggles, and are looking to get back into employment, BMHES can help you do this in a way that helps, not harms, your wellbeing.
If you’re struggling with mental health problems such as stress, anxiety, depression, or other conditions for which you have sought support from mental health professionals, BMHES can help support you so that you can stay at work.
The Bristol Mental Health Employment Service also works with employers to raise their awareness about mental health in the workplace and what they can do to support their employees.

GETTING SUPPORT
The Bristol Mental Health Employment Service is run by Richmond Fellowship, in partnership with Mental Health Matters - both national providers of mental health support. Additionally, BMHES is working in partnership with the Bristol Somali Resource Centre and Windmill Hill City Farm to meet the needs of Bristol's diverse communities.
For more information, call 0117 923 2741 (9am-5pm Monday to Friday), email enquiry.bmhemployment@richmondfellowship.org.uk, visit the Bristol Mental Health website, or check out the flyers linked below.
